UJA Interim Statement on Brutal Attack of Journalist Steven Kibwiika.

Journalist Steven Kibwiika with Spark TV under the Nation Media Group (NMG) has today been terribly attacked by the security operatives at Namere in Kawempe North while closely capturing footage for a news story about the alleged pre ticking of the ballot papers for one candidate in Kawempe North parliamentary by election tomorrow’s voting.

He was rushed to one Health facility in Kampala for urgent medical attention where he is still being hospitalized.

Shameless, this is the second time journalist Kibwiika has been brutally attacked in the space of less than two weeks, with the first on 4th March when he was badly beaten by the Wandegeya police officers when he was following up a certain story there.

The Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) strongly condemns these growing criminal acts of impunity on journalists which must stop.

Suffice to note that we have ever since progressively documented all those violation cases to bolster the evidence that will help us to individually drag them to Court. Violence against journalists is un acceptable! Journalism is not A crime.

Uganda Journalists Association.
