Membership into UGANDA JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION is categorized as following;
Full membership:
This is open to all journalists in Uganda who accept to be bound by this Constitution, the UJA professional code of conduct, the decisions of the Press Disciplinary Council or any other rules that may be established by the Association and have made all payments of membership and subscription fees.
Associate Members;
This is open to foreign journalists working in Uganda, Press/ information attaché of foreign missions accredited to Uganda or to visiting journalists. Associate membership may be granted to these by the General Assembly on the recommendation of the Executive Committee after the screening exercise to establish their professional standing.
Other Journalists and media practitioners
‘associations within the country can apply to become Associate members of UJA.
Associate members shall not be eligible to vote.
Honorary members;
This is granted by the General Assembly on recommendation of the
Executive Committee to outstanding citizens, intellectuals, national and
international literary figures.
Honorary members shall not be eligible to vote.
Life member;
These are the founders of the association and those that have been
approved by the General Assembly on recommendation of the Executive Committee
of the Association.
